Restoring Mindz

MTA Program

The MTA (More Than Athlete) program at Restoring Mindz is designed to support student-athletes aspiring to compete in collegiate sports. Our focus is to help these athletes cultivate a strong identity and strategic life plan that extends beyond their athletic endeavors. By emphasizing academic achievement and personal growth, we guide them toward leadership, trades, and entrepreneurship opportunities, enabling them to see their potential far beyond the sports arena.

Our Mentoring Objectives and Initiatives

  • EMPOWER ATHLETIC AND PERSONAL GROWTH

We provide student-athletes aged 12-21 with comprehensive training to boost their athletic skills and personal growth. Our program focuses on enhancing athletic abilities, strategic life planning, and academic readiness, including ACT & SAT prep. We aim to cultivate resilience and a strong mindset for success in collegiate sports and beyond while supporting NCAA Clearinghouse compliance and combating the school-to-prison pipeline through positive behavior reinforcement. This holistic approach prepares our student-athletes to meet competitive sports challenges and academic demands effectively.

  • FOSTER A SENSE OF IDENTITY BEYOND SPORTS

We guide our athletes in discovering and cultivating their identities outside of their sport. Recognizing the temporary nature of athletic careers, our program emphasizes the importance of mental health, post-sport preparations, and personal development. Through targeted support, counseling, and exposure to STEM jobs and trades, we help athletes transition their discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills from the field into successful careers in the paths they choose to pursue. Our comprehensive approach prepares them to thrive in various professional environments.

  • BUILD COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ROLE MODELS

We ensure that every athlete who completes the MTA program emerges as a leader and a committed servant to their community. Integrating community service and leadership training into our curriculum, along with advocacy for positive change, prepares our athletes to use sports as a platform for personal and community upliftment. This approach not only aids in personal fulfillment but also establishes a lifelong habit of giving back, setting a positive example for others, and reinforcing positive behavior as societal role models.
